Dalia! and other topics

First, and most important, Alec is an uncle, I am an aunt (pronounced “ant”), and Holden has his first first cousin. Baby Dalia Rose G was literally born yesterday (4.10.06) at a delicate but perfect 6 pounds 14 ounces. Heather and Ben are doing well. I don’t know if she was born in the same hospital as Moses Martin but I’m a little obsessed that they will grow up and be delighted that they were born within hours and miles of each other.
When we got the word that Heather FG was in labor, our pipes were leaking, then spraying, causing our entire home’s water supply to be shut off for most of Sunday. Luckily the sweet plumber folks made a house call on a Sunday, so I have neither bad nor good things to say about them. We had all the pipes in our house replaced on Friday so it wasn’t totally out of the blue… just maximally annoying not to be able to hand-wash, water-drink, laundry-do, or toilet-flush with a freaking baby in the house — with no notice at all.
I just read on Sweet Juniper a great list of music to play for your kid and I wanted to share. Right now, we’re listening to one of Julian’s cd’s (Ralph’s World) that he left in our car… and it’s pretty good. But to strive to be cool, hipster parents means we can’t just sit around waiting for our friends to leave tolerable kid’s music in our car.
More Holden news in a few days after he turns 11 months old…
